Management of Ulcerated Deep Hemangiomas
نویسنده
چکیده
Hemangiomas are proliferating vascular harmatomas that can be superficial or deep. The natural history of hemangiomas includes proliferative, stationary, and involutional phases. Most cases resolve with minimal sequelae. During the rapid growth phase, hemagiomas may ulcerate. Therapy includes daily local wound care, topical antibiotics, and systemic steroids. Our patient failed to improve with this therapy, and was taken to the operating room for surgical debridement and vascular dye laser treatment of the ulcerated lesions showing good response. The vascular dye laser should be considered in the treatment of ulcerated hemagiomas.

Ulcerated Scrotal Hemangioma in an 18-Month-Old Male Patient: A Case Report and Review of the Literature
Deep scrotal hemangiomas are rare. Less than 50 case reports have been published. After systematic research of the literature, we found less than 5 cases of ulcerated scrotal hemangioma. The aim of this case report is to illustrate the challenges of scrotal hemangiomas pose and their potential therapies based on the successful surgical treatment of an ulcerated scrotal hemangioma in an 18-month...
متن کاملResponse of ulcerated perineal hemangiomas of infancy to becaplermin gel, a recombinant human platelet-derived growth factor.
BACKGROUND Hemangiomas of infancy are the most common tumors of childhood, and ulceration is the most common complication. Many treatments have been used for hemangioma ulceration, although none are uniformly effective. A recent report described the successful use of 0.01% becaplermin gel, a recombinant human platelet-derived growth factor, for an ulcerated hemangioma refractory to standard car...
متن کاملLife-threatening hemorrhaging in neonatal ulcerated congenital hemangioma: two case reports.
IMPORTANCE Congenital hemangiomas (CHs) are rare benign vascular tumors that differ from common infantile hemangiomas in that they grow in utero and are fully developed at birth. While ulceration is a common, predominantly benign complication in infantile hemangioma, little is known about the prognosis of ulcerated CH. However, it has been observed that ulcerated CH may be complicated by life-t...
متن کاملUse of flashlamp-pumped pulsed dye laser in the treatment of superficial vascular malformations and ulcerated hemangiomas.
A retrospective study of 502 patients treated with tunable flashlamp pulsed dye laser for superficial vascular malformations (433), ulcerated hemangiomas (65) and postinvolutional redness (4) is presented. Patients were treated in the period from June 1997 to March 2006, with follow-up ranging from six months to four years. The age of the patients ranged from three months to 80 years. Correlati...
متن کاملWound closure and gradual involution of an infantile hemangioma using a noncontact, low-frequency ultrasound therapy.
Facial hemangiomas are benign vascular neoplasms of infancy and childhood. Although most hemangiomas do not result in significant complications, some result in pain, ulceration, infection, and structural abnormalities and can interfere with respiration, vision, and hearing. A 5-month-old infant presented to the author's wound center with a necrotic wound within a large, segmental hemangioma of ...
